Top Telugu Heroes Shock Fans with Zero Releases in 2025

Some years feel like a grand celebration for the film industry, full of excitement, vibrant visuals, and posters everywhere. Then there are years like 2025, which feel as if someone turned down the lights and the projectionist simply didn’t arrive. While our leading actors were occupied, moving from one set to another, adjusting their schedules, and extending deadlines, movie theaters remained unusually quiet. Fans eagerly anticipated a surprise trailer release, but none appeared. A peculiar quiet settled over stars who typically dominate the box office.

Actors like Nikhil, Sai Durga Tej, Adivi Sesh, and Varun Tej typically release films at least twice a year, often more, as if they avoid taking breaks. This year, however, saw not a single release from them. This doesn’t mean they were idle. Nikhil spent the entire year immersed in ‘Swayambhu’ and ‘The India House’. ‘Swayambhu’ was expected earlier but shifted to 2026 due to prolonged production. ‘The India House’ continues filming and appears set for a late 2026 debut. Adivi Sesh, who quickly followed ‘Major’ with ‘Hit 2’, has now unintentionally created a three-year gap. ‘Decoit’ is scheduled for March 19 next year, and ‘G2’ is set for May 1, meaning both films will arrive nearly consecutively.

Sai Durga Tej built momentum in 2023 with ‘Virupaksha’ and ‘Bro’, then experienced a sudden halt. ‘Sambarala Yeti Gattu’ missed its Dussehra release due to extended shooting, now targeting summer 2026. Varun Tej, after two disappointing outcomes, reduced his pace and carefully selected Merlapaka Gandhi’s horror-comedy. That film is expected only in the first half of 2026. Naveen Polishetty encountered a literal setback with his accident. ‘Anaganaga Oka Raju’ finally began production this year and is slated for Sankranti 2026. Akhil and Naga Shaurya, both affected by consecutive flops, stepped back to re-evaluate. Akhil’s ‘Lenin’ and Shaurya’s ‘Badboy Karthik’ are currently finishing production. Vaisshnav Tej, who made a strong entry with ‘Uppena’, has not released anything since 2023.

Next, we look at the prominent figures who were absent. These are the stars whose silence fans rarely anticipate.

Megastar Chiranjeevi has not appeared on screen for two years. ‘Vishwambhara’ faced repeated delays as its VFX work became incredibly complex, pushing its release to summer 2026. While ‘Mana Shankaravaraprasad Garu’ is technically on its way, its Sankranti 2026 slot made fans feel as though Chiru completely bypassed 2025. He is also starting a film with Bobby, but realistically, that project will not reach theaters next year. If all goes well, Chiru could potentially release three films in 2026, which would be quite a contrast after this extended quiet period.

Mahesh Babu released ‘Guntur Kaaram’ last Sankranti and then moved directly into SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’. This project is massive, with filming expected to continue until the end of 2026, targeting a summer 2027 release. Allu Arjun is in a similar situation. Despite the excitement generated by ‘Pushpa 2’, his film with Atlee is far from completion. Given the current progress, a 2027 release seems probable.

Prabhas remained quiet following ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. ‘The Raja Saab’ was anticipated as his major 2025 release, but VFX delays pushed it to the next Sankranti. ‘Fauzi’ is expected to follow later in 2026. Fans only caught brief appearances of him in ‘Kannappa’ and a segment of ‘Baahubali: The Epic’. These were pleasant moments, certainly, but they didn’t offer a complete Prabhas film experience.

Indeed, 2025 became a peculiar, empty corridor where one constantly expected an arrival, only to hear the lingering echoes of past successes. However, the roster of films waiting just around the corner appears exceptionally full. It seems as though many of these actors were holding back, preparing for a significant return.
